Strategic Housing Land Availability Studies (SHLAAs) are a central part of the evidence base required to underpin Local Development Frameworks. Baker Associates have undertaken a wide range of housing studies, from Urban Capacity Studies, through Urban Housing potential Studies to the current format of SHLAA.
The experience of undertaking over 50 such studies provides Baker Associates with an unparalleled understanding of the topic and a strong reputation in the field.

Our studies are reliable, widely accepted and trusted by Inspectors at Appeal and Inquiries. Baker Associates is known and respected for its innovative and rigorous study methodology.
Regional assemblies, government offices, local authorities, the Home Builders’ Federation, the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England and individual developers, have all endorsed our approach.
We believe a site’s potential to deliver housing completions must be demonstrated before it is included as part of housing supply. So, all our studies include thorough and comprehensive site appraisals, founded on detailed surveys and economic viability assessments. We also have extensive experience of defending the results of completed studies at examinations in public, local plan inquiries and at appeal.
